Fast and Easy Empanadas
From Spain to Patagonia empanadas are a favorite snack dish of Latin food lovers. Empanadas are turnovers filled with seasoned beef, chicken or vegetables. Their perfect for lunch, afterschool or appetizers.
Ingredients
1 package Nueva Cocina® Picadillo Beef Seasoning Mix
1-1.25 lb. lean ground beef, ground turkey or meat substitute
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
Your favorite pie crust or turnover dough
Directions
For Filling:
Follow preparation directions on the Nueva Cocina Picadillo Seasoning package. When cooked, set aside.
Use your favorite empanada dough or premade pastry dough. With cookie cutter or bottom of a glass, cut pastry sheet into 3” – 5” circles. Fill each circle with 3-4 tsps. of filling. Fold circle into crescent, pinching edges together to seal. Prick lightly with fork. Brush with light coating of egg white. Bake at 375° degrees 25-30 min., until golden.
